It was a great weekend for a book sale, and so many of you guys decided to spend it with me looking for new stories to read.
Ever since I started selling books seriously in 2010, people have been looking at me like I’m a little crazy.
“Nobody buys books anymore.”
I’ve heard that hundreds of times at least.
But, as always, you guys proved them wrong.
As Stephen King said in On Writing, “Books are a uniquely portable magic,” and he’s right.
You can live other lives, visit other worlds, and explore other times.
And you can do all those things and more, without leaving your favorite reading spot. Whether it’s your bed, your bathtub, or in line at the bank.
You can do anything. With a book.
And folks like you understand this.
We want to continue our tradition of sharing these stories with our tribe of book lovers, and your support is helping us to do just that.
All the proceeds of this book sale fundraiser went towards the Murphy Family Literacy Foundation, where we are looking to grow our Classroom Bookshelf Initiative to get classroom libraries for thousands of teachers all over the country.
We have the books to make this happen, but we need your help.
If you live in the Dayton area, please consider volunteering with us to help sort books for the foundation to fill classroom libraries for our amazing teachers.
If not, consider donating to our literacy foundation or purchasing books from our online shop where 10% of the sales go to support the foundation.
You can find the links to all of these opportunities at the end of this email.
Thanks for everything,
